FUTURA SEOUL

Winner of the Seoul Metropolitan Government Architecture Award

Established in 1979, the Seoul Architecture Awards is an annual public program that celebrates architectural contributions to the cultural and environmental fabric of the city. The award recognizes meaningful works that reflect how architecture can thoughtfully engage with urban life and society selected by both experts and citizens alike.

Now in its 43rd edition, the 2025 Seoul Architecture Awards was held under the theme “Seoul-ness: Multi-Layered City.” This year’s jury focused on works that interpret the identity, locality, and uniqueness of Seoul through a forward-looking lens.

FUTURA SEOUL was recognized for its sensitive architectural response to the historical and urban landscape of Bukchon. The space is designed to naturally open out toward the neighborhood—particularly from the upper levels and rooftop—offering visitors a contemplative view of the surrounding cityscape. Its seamless flow between interior and exterior, the fluid circulation between everyday life and art, and the architectural articulation of shifting daylight throughout the day, all resonate closely with the award’s thematic focus.

Selected as the Grand Prize recipient of the 43rd Seoul Architecture Awards, FUTURA SEOUL has been officially recognized by the city for its excellence in design and public value serving as a thoughtful example of how architecture can reflect Seoul’s local identity while proposing new directions for the city’s future.
